The “Banned Songs” Manifesto

Over a billion songs have been composed in human history. Most were listened to, hummed along to, then forgotten. But some have had a far more adventurous life.

There were songs that made people dance when they weren’t allowed to. Songs copied onto medical X-rays and sold under the counter. Songs broadcast from a ship in the middle of the sea, because no radio station on land had the courage to play them. Songs for which someone flew from New York to London just to change a lyric about Coca-Cola. And songs that became the most listened to in the world precisely because someone tried to stop them.

“Banned Songs” is the story of music that refused to be silenced. A story about creativity under pressure, about people who always found a way, and about the fact that every time someone bans a song, they make it immortal.
